Time for the week 49 keto diet weight loss update. This week I decided to start an extended water fast. This is my 4th fast of this type since I started the ketogenic diet.
The first three lasted two days, three days, and six days, in that order. I decided with this one I was going to start it during the work week instead of on the weekends like I have done in the past. My last meal was on Tuesday at noon.
The first 3 days went really well and it was the easiest first 3 days so far. I don't know if this was due to the fact of starting it during the work week or just from this being my fourth fast of this type. It does get easier after the first few in case you are struggling.
I also decided to take a magnesium supplement this time to help with the electrolyte cramping issues I've had in the past fasts. I chose a powdered magnesium citrate because all the pill form ones I found had fillers in there. This one was just pure magnesium. It worked well and no cramps this time around.
Hunger issues arose on day four and I ended up breaking the fast after this day. It was the weekend and I went grocery shopping with my wife. Then later I went to the horse races. Being around food for those 6-8 hours just made me hungry. Not a shocker I know.
I'm a little bummed I didn't go longer but at the same time I don't want fasting to ruin my life socially so I'm also glad I spent that time with my wife. I do plan on doing another fast in a couple months so we will see how that one goes.
So overall my weight loss is a little tainted this week as I lost 6 lbs compared to last week's weigh in. Obviously, at least half on this is coming back on so I don't expect to be this light next week. I weighed in at 207.4 which is only 0.4 lbs away from being down 100 lbs which is a big goal of mine for week 52.
